Compare my Plan to a Standard Degree Map

As a student:

When I first go to Degree Maps, I want to view the map associated with my declared primary program/plan

I want to select a different map if the one associated with my program/plan stack is not the map that I am interested in using for planning

I want to receive a warning so I know if a plan I am following is not my declared program/plan stack

I want my Plan to be compared to the selected degree map to see my progress on that map

I want to see how details of courses in my Plan compare to a selected map, so I can see my progress and see if I am on track for degree completion-  (details include status, term, course used)

I want to add courses to my Plan from a particular map (Plan by My Map)

o         Data capture

when a student indicates that they are going to plan from a selected map we need to capture:

       Date/time

what map it came from [map id/start/end]

       student’s current program/plan stack

o         Plan by My Map means resolving the placeholders from the standard map view – add a course and term to the plan

o         Data capture

when a student adds a course to their plan need to capture

       Date/time

       [map id/start/end]

       student’s current program/plan stack

       planned year/term

when I plan from my map, I want to know if I am planning to take a critical course after the recommended term of completion so that I take my critical courses in a timely manner

if I return to do more planning in another session I want the map that I have chosen to plan from in an earlier session to be the default map displayed to me

know that when I go to resolve a list of courses from my degree, that the list will exclude courses that are not appropriate to me because I have already taken them or they are otherwise inappropriate

know that changes to course catalog data are reflected on items in my plan (this is planner-course catalog roll that we have with SIS – Sandy will provide documentation that this is happening and timing) so I am aware of course changes that may impact previous planning and that may delay my on-time graduation.

*********

I want to have a view of my Plan from the degree map page, so that I have an easy way to view my plan while planning

I want to be to know from the Plan view how a resolved course in my plan is part of a map I have planned from – so that I know what map it is associated with and I can better plan (Plan page or Plan view within the Degree Map page)

I want to know if an item/course is a critical course for a map I planned from, and be able to access the details from my Plan (Plan page view and Plan view in Degree Map) so that I can certain to keep those courses in mind as I am making adjustments to my Plan

know that the map I am planning from reflects the most current version of the map that applies to me

want to be able to make changes to my Plan from the view available on the Degree Map page so that I don’t have to navigate to the Plan page to take actions

Warnings

A warning is:

seen by the student during the planning process

Does not require a student to take an immediate action

Is not intended to trigger advisor intervention or action

As a student:

I want to receive a warning so I know if a plan I am following is not my declared program/plan stack [this is happening in the selection process, do we need it here as well?]

I want to receive a warning so I know if I am missing a critical course timeline in a plan I am planning from [happens when they plan by the map, redundant?]

I want to receive a warning so I know if I am missing a milestone timeline in a plan I am following

I want to receive a warning so I know if my Plan doesn’t include the  required number of credit hours in a term

I want to receive a warning so I know if my plan doesn’t include 30/60/90/120 credit hours by the end of year 1/2/3/4

I want to evaluate my Plan by running an AAR+Planner directly from the iGPS tool (without having to log in to the Student Center) so that I can easily confirm the value of my Plan

I want to be able to evaluate my Plan against my AAR without having to resolve warnings

I want to see any warnings for a selected plan as I start planning from my degree map

Backlog

compare my academic record to more than one plan, so that I can see my progress and see if I am on track for degree completion for multiple majors, minors and/or certificates

import the selected map so that I know how courses I am planning adhere to the map

import a term from a selected map so that I know how courses I am planning adhere to the map

import a course from a selected map so that I know how courses I am planning adhere to the map

view the map from which I am planning,  side-by-side with my Plan so that I can see how my plan impacts my likelihood of on time degree completion [stacked design]

know how far along I am in completing my degree (percentage, will need to look at resolved placeholder items, and not placeholder?)

be able to Plan by My Map and resolve a degree map placeholder to a single course or class from the Plan view at the top of the degree map page

be able to Plan by My Map and resolve a degree map placeholder to a single course or class from a map I am following

be able to know if a degree map placeholder has been resolved in my Plan, so that I know what still needs to be resolved???

know when an placeholder item in my plan is part of a map I have planned from

know when an placeholder item in my plan is part of a map, and when I am following multiple maps which map

know when a resolved course in my plan is part of a map, and when I am following multiple maps which map
