What is Kuali People Management for the Entriprise (KPME)?

The Kuali Foundation has created a model for community source development and delivery of administrative systems designed BY and FOR higher education. Already delivered are a fully functional Financial System, the proposal and budget development for a Research Administration system, and a set of middleware and application development tools called “Kuali Rice.”   Also underway is a Kuali Student system, with an initial phase to be delivered in 2010. Other systems are in incubation.

Numerous schools have expressed a desire for the ability to swap out additional administrative systems such as their enterprise-wide Human Resources and Payroll systems. In the case of an HR / Payroll system, many vended systems do not provide functionality specific to higher education, and home-grown systems are increasingly unsustainable. Expectations are growing for updated and effective systems that are more usable for end users, that are more flexible for administrative, regulatory and policy changes, and that provide the necessary functionality that is required by higher education.

Kuali People Management for the Enterprise (KPME) is intended to be an enterprise-wide application to address the traditional human resource and payroll needs for higher education.
