Vertical navigation in Kuali applications is used primarily to section individual pieces of content within pages, functioning almost like a subnavigational element. However, the use isn't limited to subnavigation.

  1. We need to add some indication for ARIA that a menu is expanded or collapsed.

    1. We actually don't need to include ARIA to indicate if the sidebar is collapsed or not because all of the menu items within are still accessible by the normal methods (Tabbing). Indicating whether or not it's expanded or collapsed would normally prompt an action to either expand it to interact or collapse it, both of which aren't necessary. The collapsing is purely visual but doesn't affect the DOM or markup.
